Adactus Housing Association owns and manages approximately 490 properties in Moss Side, spread across Old Moss Side and the Alexandra Park Estate. Due to the concentration of stock in this area, Adactus Housing Association has established close working relationships with many other partner organisations, including Manchester City Council and Greater Manchester Police  as well as housing providers such as Moss Care, Great Places Housing Group, City South Manchester and Arawak Walton.

Working in conjunction with partners enables Adactus Housing Association to carry out more valuable work targeted to the local community, through sharing information and pooling together to fund activities.

OurMossSide (OMS), an initiative launched in 2010, is a partnership between residents and organisations  that deliver public services in Moss Side. Adactus Housing Association helps to support the initiative by coordinating and attending regular steering group meetings.  The Association is also responsible for the environmental work stream, dealing with issues such as waste management and healthy living.

Community projects that have been supported by Adactus Housing Association include a community garden on Rawcliffe Street, the award winning 'Triangle' on Cranswick Street and a community allotment on Bowes Street.

There are also a number of annual events that are held in Moss Side and Adactus Housing Association helps to fund and support these including, the Moss Side Carnival which takes place at Alexandra Park around August time, the Moss Side Winter Festival which is held on the recreation ground each December and an event on the Millenium Green, Alexandra Park Estate which takes place each year in May.  A further event to celebrate the birthday of Our Moss Side takes place annually around October.

An overview of the Association's current activities is provided in the map below.

As well as working with partners on a more strategic level, Adactus Housing Association is also on hand to support local Residents Associations and community groups. There are currently five constituted Residents Associations that have been established by our residents across Moss Side. These include RAAPSRA (Roberts Avenue & Playfair Street Residents Association), The Streets R.A., Holywood Street R.A., Cranswick Square R.A. and Alexandra Spirit.

Through its own Neighbourhood Fund, Adactus Housing Association has been able to support smaller scale community projects as well as work in the wider community. In 2011, six projects were funded in the area, ranging from street parties  and community fun days, to youth projects focussing on healthy living and mentoring sessions at a local Primary School.

For further information on either joining an existing Residents Association in your area or setting up a new one, or for details about the Neighbourhood Fund, please contact our breathe team via 0845 505 3355 from a landline or 0300 111 1133 from a mobile.
