Housing Association
-
Housing associations are 'not-for-profit' organisations that provide affordable housing to rent or to buy.
Housing associations are often formed as Industrial and Provident Societies. Any trading surplus made by a housing association is retained and reinvested in the business.
In England, housing associations are registered with and regulated by the Homes and Communities Agency (since the abolition of the TSA in April 2012) and are technically known as 'private registered providers'.
