Under current government plans, from April next year tenants of working age who are under occupying their properties by one or more bedrooms will have their housing benefit cut and will have to make up the shortfall themselves. As approximately 60% of Adactus tenants rely on benefits to pay a proportion or all of their rent, this would have significant implications for many of our tenants. The Neighbourhood Fund is a substantial pot of money controlled by our tenants to support projects and initiatives in the local area. We originally set up the Fund in 2010 to make sure our customers benefited directly from the cost efficiencies made to the business. A total of £200,000 was made available and tenants used a ‘Dragons Den’ process to decide which of the competing projects would receive financial support with a total of 70 projects across the North West …
