500+ vacancies make jobs’ fair a big hit for Tameside…

Friday 10 May saw the 4th Tameside Jobs Fair hosted by Jigsaw Homes Group at its Head Office in Ashton.  The event proved hugely popular with over 476 job seekers from the Borough and surrounding areas visiting Cavendish 249.

26 companies and organisations worked closely on the day looking to recruit unemployed residents into 500+ vacancies available with over 200 jobs on offer while others provided information and guidance on employment, health and skills support services available locally.

The event was the result of great partnership working between Jigsaw Group’s Neighbourhood Engagement Team, Tameside Council Employment and Skills Team and Job Centre Plus.

Opening speeches delivered by Brian Moran (Jigsaw Group – Deputy Chief Executive) and Tameside Councillor Gerald Cooney – Executive Member (Economic Growth, Employment and Housing) helped to explain the purpose of these important events continuing to take place in Tameside, providing real life changing opportunities for people and reducing inequalities.

Tameside Job’s Fair again proved very successful with local job seekers, as Kevin highlighted “Very informative, completed an application form and booked onto an open day event next week at English Fine Cottons (Culimeta Saveguard Ltd).  – Well done for today”.   Diane, another job seeker commented ”A Great day, very helpful staff and employers. Pointed me in the right direction to get back to what I want to do again in my career”.
